Description

IC1340, informally known as The Bat Nebula, is a beautiful portion of the Eastern Veil (Caldwell 33) of the Cygnus loop supernova remnant, adjacent to NGC6995 that reveals delicate wisps and filaments of nebulosity. It is often overlooked because of other portions of the Cygnus loop, e.g., The Western Veil containing the Witch's Broom) and Pickering's Triangle.  IC 1340 is essentially the continuation of the Veil Nebula. It lies approximately 1,500 light-years from Earth.  I posted this because, once again, Ha images reveal so much detail and in case I can't capture enough O3 and S2 to produce a SHO palette, this will have to suffice.
